If Holy Week in Castro del Río has been made famous throughout its history it isbecause of its serenity which, together with the sobriety and austerity of the processions, have made it more typical of Castile than the province of Córdoba.
These hallmarks, together with the originality and diversity of the events that take place overthe week, led, in 2001, to its being declared of Tourist Interest by the regional government, the Junta de Andalucía.
Holy Week in Castro del Río starts on Palm Sunday and ends seven days later on Easter Sunday. A week in which, thanks to the beauty of the setting, visitors are offered a breathtaking vision of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ.
