Holy Week is celebrated during the month of April.

These festivities date back to the first half of the 16th century, when the penitent brotherhoods were created to venerate scenes and monuments of the Passion and Death of Christ.

It is celebrated mainly outdoors and is a phenomenon that is loaded with significance and symbolism.

The brotherhoods of Cordoba carry out processions from Palm Sunday with the brotherhood known as La Borriquita until Easter Sunday, culminating with the procession of the Resurrection.

Holy Week in Cordoba merits being watched with an attentive eye, for every aspect of the religious festival is unforgettable, from the brotherhoods entering the Mosque-Cathedral to the processions through the narrow, winding streets of the Old Quarter.
