Amongst the Renaissance splendours of the city, attention must be drawn to the Casa de los Villalones, constructed by Hernán Ruiz the Younger in 1560.
The building is located in the Plazuela de Orive, a small square close to the Plaza de San Andrés, on the site formerly occupied by the Casa de los Luna.
In this work Hernán Ruiz demonstrated the knowledge he acquired from the architect Machuca.
In view of its composition and decoration, the building is one of the most spectacular and beautiful examples of 16th-century architecture in Cordoba.
