The castle and the parish church stand at the highest part of the town, providing a beautiful view of the municipality from the Cruz de San Pedro.

Construction of this Moorish castle, now in ruins, began in the 8th century.

The stone walls that delimit the fortress bear square towers on the corners, most notably the keep.

The walls of the primitive town, dating from the 11th century, surround the fortress and also bore several square towers.
