Del Moral Castle and Archaeological Museum

The castle and ancient palace of the Medinaceli family stand very close to the Plaza Nueva: the edifice dates from the period of Moorish occupation and was reformed subsequent to Christian conquest.

It is a quadrangular building with corner towers, including the noteworthy Torre del Moral, and has an octagonal layout, covered by a Baroque pyramid roof.

It is famous for once having served as the prison of Boabdil.

The Archaeological Museum, located in the Castillo del Moral [Castle], which was restored for this purpose, comprises a series of exhibition rooms that focus on the evolution of life on earth, the cultural and physical evolution of humanity and Lucena’s evolution towards modernity.
