The oldest part of the convent church of San Agustín, today located on the edge of the quarter of Santa Marina, dates back to 1328.
During the 16th century significant construction work took place, although its was in 17th century when the restoration and construction of the church finished; during 19th century it suffered the consequences of a serious fire that led to its closure and the deterioration of the building.
The church is currently being restored.
It possesses characteristics that are typical of the medieval church and its façade corresponds to 15th century styling, although work carried out in the 17th century has left its mark and transformed the building.
Attention must be drawn to the vaulting of the central nave of the church, decorated with plasterwork and mural paintings that represent scenes from the Creed, paintings that we are able to attribute to Juan Luis Zambrano.
The Inmaculada del Sotocoro, attributed to Cristobal Vela and dated to the 17th century, bears special mention.
Like most churches of Cordoba it has a large number of altars with beautiful images and period paintings.
