With 13th century Gothic-Mudejar origins, the Iglesia de San Nicolás de la Villa possesses the most beautiful tower of all the churches in Cordoba.
The façade on the north side was constructed by the architect Hernán Ruiz II in 1555.
The church was rebuilt at the end of the 15th century and comprises three naves. In the interior, attention should be drawn to the Capilla del Bautismo [Baptism Chapel], which was built between 1540 and 1555.
The Renaissance relief of la Caridad that adorns the ante-sacristy also bears mention.
The walnut doors of the church are extremely valuable, as are its altarpiece worked by Jorge Mejía between 1720 and 1723 and the eucharistic urn by the goldsmith Damián de Castro.
