The main temple of Peñarroya is the parish church of el Salvador, built between the nineteen-forties and the nineteen-sixties by Sáenz de Santamaría, along a Latin-cross plan.
A eucharistic shrine has been adapted to serve as the main altar.
The shrine was brought from the Cathedral of Cordoba, and was designed by Hernán Ruiz III in the 16th century.
