Torre de la Malmuerta

The Torre de la Malmuerta is fine example of the defensive towers housed within the city of Córdoba.  

 

The origin of the tower is unknown, although according to legend the name refers to a female prisoner who died trapped within its walls. 

 

The tower is constructed in keeping with Moorish tradition.

It is an albarrana chamfered tower, joined to a turret via a bridge that possesses a wide semi-circular arch. 

 

The tower was built between 1406 and 1408.
